Synopsis

After 30 years of Taliban rule, pop culture is creeping back into Afghanistan: Afghan Star, an American idol-type contest set in Afghanistan, watched by one-third of the country. 2,000 contestants compete: all genders, three women ethnic groups, and age sectors. Marking follows the dramatic stories of four of the contestants from regional auditions to the finals in Kabul.
