Synopsis
The story of Kvido's parents begins in the Prague of 1962, a few hours before Kvido's birth. His neurotically shy mother and his very energetic father are both pursuing difficult missions in life: Dad has his sights on getting a driver's license; Mom is trying to schedule the birth of her baby, so that the delicate event wouldn't be witnessed by any strangers. Neither one of them succeeds. During Dad's driving exam, his car is nicked by a locomotive — rather than to pass him, the cop returns the rare pork ham which he'd been bribed. Meanwhile, on her way to a theatre, the very pregnant Mom is shocked by a stray dog, causing her to deliver baby Kvido during the performance of Waiting for Godot. It is the story of a precocious child who challenges his surroundings, a father trying to make it politically and financially, and a mother who is trying to put it all in order.
